Tennessee Youth Rodeo

Tennessee Youth Rodeo started their 2020-2021 rodeo season on August 22 at the Robert Rainey Arena on Quinn Road south of Collierville, TN with one performance at 5 p.m. Their second rodeo was September 5 at the Blue Creek Arena in McEwen, Tenn. This show had two performances one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

In Steer Bareback Riding, Owen Prince scored 68 points at the first rodeo, 64 and 69 at the two performances at McEwen.

In Girls Breakaway, AJ Bryant is the current leader, turning in times of 5.76 and 4.29 in the two performances at McEwen.

Daniel Wilder is the current leader in Boys Breakaway, scoring 10.63 at the first rodeo and 4.79 and 14.59 at the McEwen rodeo.

In Barrel Racing, Reese Weir was the winner of the Aug. 22 Youth Rodeo at Byhalia with a time of 14.905. Katie Jane Crook won the morning run at McEwen with a time of 15.638 and Emma Twisdale won the afternoon run at McEwen with a time of 15.260.

In Chutedogging, Daniel Wilder leads the boys with a score of 3.09 at the first rodeo, and 4.99 and 2.79 at McEwen.

In Pole Bending, Harper Kate Wilburn leads the girls with top times of 23.743 at the first rodeo, and 23.483 and 23.969 at McEwen. Emma Twisdale had the fastest time of the weekend at McEwen, coming in at 15.260 in the afternoon performance.

Four ropers are currently tied in first in Team Roping: Daniel Wilder and Sam White (19.00 at the first rodeo); Jayleigh Gilbert and Bracen Dowdy (18.55 at McEwen).

In Girls Goat Tying, Avery Wilburn is the current leader with times of 11.98, 13.53, and 14.12, closely followed by Katie Jane Crook, with times of 12.57, 11.41, and 18.87, and Mia Koedi Robbins, with times of 14.60, 12.25, and 15.78. Avery leads with 28 points so far, with Katie and Mia each having 26 points.

Daniel Wilder leads with 30 points in Boys Goat Tying, scoring 11.27 at the first rodeo, and 12.33 and 12.23 at McEwen.

In Junior Bull Riding, only two cowboys compete. Cy Webb currently leads with scores of 67 and 58 at McEwen. Braxton Lynch scored 71 at the first rodeo.

As of September 7, Daniel Wilder was leading the boys for All-Around Cowboy with 97 points so far. He competes in Boys Breakaway, Chutedogging, Team Roping, and Boys Goat Tying.

Katie Jane Crook was leading the girls for All-Around Cowgirl with 87 points. She competes in Girls Breakaway, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, and Goat Tying.

Coming up next is the October 10 rodeo at the Triple P Arena in Decaturville, TN with two performances, a regular TYRA rodeo and a Cinch rodeo for those in sixth – eighth grades.
