By Lucy Cogbill, Education Coordinator, The Bird Dog Foundation
The Bird Dog Foundation sponsors an annual Student Art Contest for public and home school students in grades K-12 who are within the area near the National Bird Dog Museum in Grand Junction, TN. This area includes students attending schools in Fayette, Hardeman, Tipton, McNairy, Madison and Chester Counties in West Tennessee, and Marshall, Benton, Tippah and Alcorn Counties in North Mississippi. The contest encourages students to submit artwork along the themes of sporting dogs, hunting with dogs on horseback, nature and conservation of wildlife, etc. Prizes are awarded to the winners in all grade categories.
Students and/or their teachers may submit student artwork anytime throughout the school year, as long as the work is submitted by January 15th. The judging will be soon after that date, and we schedule a ceremony to award prizes and honors to the students around mid-March, after all the Field Trial activities are completed at the Museum.
For more information on the contest rules, visit: www.birddogfoundation.com, and select the Art & Essay Contests Tab or e-mail at: library@birddogfoundation.comor Phone: (731) 764-2058.
