Mid-South Dressage Academy (MDA) in Hernando, Mississippi hosted its last USEF/USDF show of the 2019 season on November 23-24 – the annual Turkey Trot Show. Elizabeth Clifton, owner and show manager, said people came from Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, and, of course, Mississippi to attend the show. Saturday’s judge was Sandi Chohany, with Susam Mandas taking the honor on Sunday. Elizabeth said, “We have a fun group of people and some really nice horses here.”

The show proved to be a landmark show for several riders.

Jessica Roberson Wright, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., achieved her USDF silver medal on Saturday. She rode Umberto in FEI Prix St. Georges, scoring 62.353%. On Sunday, she topped off the weekend with a score of 64.559%.

Also achieving her silver medal was Anne Tursky. She rode Sonnenschein Roa in FEI Prix St. Georges, achieving scores of 60.294% and 68.676%.

Natasja Kraska Massey and Windsor scored 68.200% in the FEI Intermediate Musical Freestyle, and did even better on Sunday with a score of 71.125%. She has achieved her USDF gold medal and was aiming for the gold bar for Musical Freestyle. Those scores earned her that gold bar this weekend!

Young rider 16-year-old Jorja Samsel was hoping to earn her bronze medal this weekend. Riding Axel, she scored 65.625% and 63.750% in JR/YR Third Level tests. She achieved her bronze medal this weekend! Jorja got her start riding at MDA at an Easter Egg Eggstravaganza several years ago.

Débuting in Prix St. Georges, Kathryn Stoy’s Flash Gordon Hf scored 66.618% and 69.118%.

Amanda Bailey and Quemaito also competed in Prix St. Georges, scoring 60.000% and 61.176%.

Alexandra Du Celliee Muller brought a couple of horses. She rode Fern RC in Second Level, earning 65.405%, 61.786%, 71.892%, and 65.952%. Her Scandias Anthem scored 68.793% and 66.552% in Training Level.

High Scores for the weekend were:

FEI:  J.T. Burnley (KY), Fuerst Tanzer, Prix St. Georges 71.618%

Open:  Alex Du Celliee Muller (AR) Fern RC (Second Level-1) 71.892%

Jr:  Aislin Falasco (AR), Unscripted (First Level-3) 68.750%

Adult Amateur:  Erin Herzog (MO), Amica Nera (First Level-3)72.778%

Coming up next at MDA is the Christmas-themed schooling show on Sunday December 15. Amanda Bailey will judge. Then look forward to the “Academy Awards” coming in January 2020.
