Upper Marlboro, Md. – Oct. 4, 2018 – As the competition year for the USHJA World Championship Hunter Rider Program culminated with WCHR Finals at The Capital Challenge Horse Show, the USHJA was pleased to recognize the 2018 WCHR Regional Champions.
On Wednesday evening prior to the final rounds of the WCHR Professional and Developing Professional Challenge classes, Regional Champions were recognized for the Professional, Developing Professional, Amateur Owner, Adult Amateur and Handy sections. Friday evening prior to the Professional Finals playoffs and final four rounds, Junior, Pony and Children's Regional Champions were recognized.
WCHR members competed in eight geographic regions across 10 membership categories throughout the competition year. USHJA congratulates the following members for earning WCHR Regional Champion titles:

The World Championship Hunter Rider Program was founded in 1992 to recognize and celebrate the hunter rider. Since the inaugural WCHR Professional Finals in 1992, the WCHR program has expanded to include coveted year-end awards for Professionals, Developing Professionals, Amateur Owners, Adult Amateurs, Juniors, Children's and Pony riders.
WCHR Program Members qualify for National and Regional Awards by earning points at Member Events held across the country throughout the qualifying year. Points from a rider's top four WCHR Member Events are used to determine the National and Regional standings. Each year the top 10 nationally ranked riders and top six regionally ranked riders in each category compete in the WCHR Finals at the Capital Challenge Horse Show. This year’s Capital Challenge Horse Show ran from September 28-October 7, 2018 at the Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
