Woodstock Cuba Saddle Club (WCSC), of Millington, TN, recognized their riders’ achievements over the 2017 show season at their annual awards banquet on December 9, 2017 at Grace Community Church. The club had some special awards this year, as Molly’s Custom Buckles provided 20 custom buckles to the club. Awards were given to the top five in each class, with first place having the option of a Molly’s Custom Silver Buckle, a jacket or a Custom Cowhide Buckle holder. Second place winners were given director style chairs with the WCSC logo.
Along with plenty of food and good fellowship, new officers and board of directors were elected. The 2018 officers and Board of Directors are: President, John Morgan; Vice President, Ronnie Holland; Secretary, Tiffany Hayse; Treasurer, Lydia Holland. Board members are: Kim Looney, Buck Friskillo, Gloria Eppich, Debbie Ripley, Valerie Matlock, Kasey Perkins, Courtnie Austin and Andy Perkins.
WCSC had a great show season with a total of 2,396 entries, 409 entries more than last year, for twelve shows, including the annual Halloween Trick or Trot show. President John Morgan led the way for making improvements to the show grounds, including a new arena fence that was donated by Mackling Farms. The old Trophy Room was torn down and replaced with a container unit which will serve as the announcer’s and sign up stand in 2018.
The youth group hosted their first annual Memorial Day weekend Crawfish Festival, complete with a 3D Open Barrels and Corn Hole tournament with BBQ shoulders for sale – all to raise the funds to go the National Junior High School Rodeo Finals in Lebanon, TN. The youth also hosted the 4th annual fall Horsapalooza; held a horsemanship clinic with Ms. Patti Barber in June and a barrel racing clinic in July with By Faith Farms, and ended the year with their Annual Youth Blow out Party.
The youth members vote for Best Sportsmanship and Most Improved Rider. This year’s winners are: Morgan Flowers, Best Sportsmanship Award. Adalyn Tuinstra was voted as Most Improved Rider for 2017.
The WCSC Royalty are: Queen, Jena Davis; Princess, Kelsey Stimpson; Buckaroo Princess, Madi Trouy.
The 2018 WCSC show season starts in April, every Friday night, weather permitting. For more information about WCSC, visit http://www.mywcsc.com/, or facebook at Woodstock Cuba Saddle Club.
