The equestrian world lost another of its members this past December. Adele Haverty Bealer passed away on December 12, 2017 of cancer, at age 66.
It was sad day for family, friends, members of West Tennessee Hunter Jumper Association, and horse show enthusiasts in the west Tennessee area. Adele was long time supporter, life member, and friend of WTHJA. Members of WTHJA send their thoughts, hugs, and prayers her Sister Cindy Haverty and family.
WTHJA posted on facebook: “Adele was one of the warmest and funniest people we knew, as well as a tough competitor. She lost her battle with cancer, but we will always have her in our hearts and through our memories of her and the great times we all shared with her. We can keep her memory alive and her spirit always with us.”
Adele was born in Memphis, TN on July 26, 1951. She graduated from Hutchison School in 1969, and attended Emory University and Memphis State University. Adele was then a CPA in Memphis for 25 years before moving to Salt Lake City, UT. There she earned a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of Utah in 2014 and taught for several years in the University's School of Business and English Department.
Adele is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Florence Haverty, her brother, Bob Haverty, and her daughter, Katherine Whitlock. She is survived by her husband, Steve Bealer, her sister, Cindy Haverty, both of Collierville, and her stepdaughter, Tracy Bealer of Queens, NY.
A memorial service was held at St. George's Episcopal Church in Germantown, TN on December 20, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Adele's legacy with a donation to the American Cancer Society, or to a charity of your choice.
