Chesterfield Stables, on Bluegrass Road in Knoxville, Tennessee, held a special event – with a very special guest – on Saturday December 16, 2017. Children and their parents had an opportunity to meet Santa and His Ponies, have a ride, and get a “photo op” with Santa himself. Children could also ride their stick ponies over an obstacle course. There were arts and crafts with a seasonal theme, and hot chocolate and cookies by the bonfire.
Owner Arlene McCarthy said this is their second year for the visit from Santa and His Ponies. Her stable has been in operation for 12-13 years. Chesterfield specializes in hunter/jumper riding, with some dressage instruction.
Arlene is originally from Canada and is a Level 1 certified instructor through the Ontario Equestrian Federation. She also has a background in Pony Club. Arlene has always loved horses and started riding when she was nine years old. She moved to Knoxville in 2002 and started a career in real estate. Not long after, she started construction on her farm and started teaching riding. She is now assisted by Jennifer Jarnigan, who has become her main trainer.
