Franklin Polo Academy, particularly James Armstrong, director of Franklin Polo Academy and Sammie Uys, polo manager and instructor at Franklin Polo Academy, launched the first Tennessee Interscholastic Polo Team, sanctioned by the U.S. Polo Association.
Members of the team include: Cey Johnson (17), a Senior at Page High School in Franklin, TN. She took up polo with Franklin Polo Academy last year and has been taking lessons and practicing ever since. This polo match on October 14-15 was her first tournament.
Caroline Mooney (14), a Freshman at Creekview High School in Canton, Georgia. She has been playing for three years at a small club in Georgia, both arena and field polo.
Jacob Wallace (14), in 8th Grade at Station Camp Middle School in Gallatin, TN. He has been taking lessons and playing for two years.
Zachary Wallace (15), a Freshman at Station Camp High School in Gallatin, TN. He is brother to Jacob and has been playing for two years. Both brothers started training with Franklin Polo in the spring when they found out Franklin had an established polo school.
October marked everyone’s first time being on an Interscholastic Team.
On Saturday, October 7, the Tennessee team took on the Bluewater Creek team of Killen, Alabama at the Tractor Supply Co. arena at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, TN. The team had a great first time playing together, even though they lost 8 to 5 to Bluewater Creek.
The Tennessee Interscholastic team had another match on October 14 and 15 against the Louisville Polo Club.
