The River Glen June Horse Trials were held June 10-11, 2017 at River Glen Equestrian Park in New Market, Tenn. River Glen now hosts four USEF/USEA 2-day sanctioned Horse Trials a year: Spring, in April; June; Summer in August; and Fall in November. The Horse Trials offer Beginner Novice through Intermediate divisions. Course designer Steve Buckman came to River Glen Park about two weeks prior to the June Horse Trials to make improvements to the cross country courses.
This weekend had great weather for the horse trials, and even some foxhunters came to compete. Clare Pinney, the Huntsman for Cedar Knob Hunt rode here hunt horse Herrenhal to third place in the Beginner Novice Horse division. Casey Balloch Johnsey, Whipper-in for Tennessee Valley Hunt rode Little Miss Tennessee to First place in the Open Beginner Novice division. Tennessee Valley Hunt Club member Scott Keating rode his wife's hunt horse Gingerbread Girl to second place in the Starter division. And Fran Wheeler, from Tennessee Valley Hunt, rode her hunt horse in the Open Beginner Novice division.
