On March 24, 2017 Woodland Hills was once again the site of the annual Queen’s Ball for the 2017 Germantown Charity Horse Show (GCHS). Horse show President Virginia Walker welcomed everyone to the formal occasion, and presentation of the 2017 Princesses and Queen followed.
This year’s Queen is Virginia Elizabeth Barron, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Moore Barron and granddaughter of Mary Liz and the late Sonny Foster, a founder of the Germantown Charity Horse Show. Virginia was also a GCHS Princess in 2015.
Twenty-five Princesses for the 2017 show were escorted to the spotlight, each representing various organizations in the Germantown and Memphis area. The 2017 Princesses are:
Miss Mary Morgan Barron, daughter of M/M Daniel Moore Barron, representing The Suburban Garden Club of Germantown
Miss Mary Ashley Bateman, daughter of M/M William Walter Bateman, Jr., representing Guardian Angels Pet Rescue
Miss Louise Nicoll Chancellor, daughter of M/M David Martin Chancellor, representing Dogwood Home Owners Association
Miss Emma Sophia Christopher, daughter of M/M Gregory l. Christopher, representing Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital

Queen Virginia was crowned by 2016 Queen Alison Jo Slott. The Queen’s Tiara was designed and contributed by DeAngelis Jewelers of Germantown, and the Queen gets to keep her tiara, thanks to the jeweler’s generosity.
Germantown Vice Mayor Mary Anne Gibson read the annual City of Germantown Proclamation, honoring the 2017Horse Show Queen. Then it was time for the first dance of the evening – Queen Virginia dancing with her father, and later joined by the Princesses and their escorts.
After dinner, everyone enjoyed dancing to the music of Jeremy Shrader and the Quintessentials until half past eleven o’clock.
