Anyone who ever rode across Twin Hills Ranch, east of Collierville, Tenn., saw the beauty of a well-maintained cattle ranch, with lush Bermuda grass pastures interspersed with woods and streams. It was a delight to ride over this gorgeous land. Twin Hills was a top notch, successful cattle operation.
Bobby Brown (1931-2017)was the manager of Twin Hills Ranch for over 50 years and it is to his credit that the land was so well cared-for. He was exceptional in everything he did, from running Twin Hills (owned by the Taylor family) to breeding and training World Championship Cutting Horses. He was a National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) member for over 50 years, as well as in the Members Hall of Fame. He was an American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) judge for 17 years and NCHA judge for over 35 years. Not only did he work his own horses, he also helped many others in all equine disciplines over his lifetime.
His special gifts were his kind words and keen interest in others. He shared his knowledge and taught others how to be better horsemen and competitors. He and other horse enthusiasts helped the Youth in the Tennessee High School Rodeo Association and local saddle clubs. Many of his students have become NCHA World Champions, Futurity Champions, and Finalists in other events.
Robert (Bobby) Riley Brown, Sr. 85, passed away peacefully at Baptist Reynolds Hospice in Collierville, TN on January 31, 2017. The service was held at Collierville Funeral Home in Collierville, TN. Two songs epitomized Brown’s life: “High On The Mountain,” by Vince Gill and “Don't Ever Sell Your Saddle,” by Randy Travis. Other survivors are sister, Margie Brown Terrell; niece, Linda Terrell Coleman, and nephew William Terrell, Jr. all from Memphis.
