Boxing Day 2016 was a beautiful day for fox hunting! The Mells Fox Hounds hosted their annual Cedar Hills Pony Club Hunt with a majority of the Pony Club members being in attendance and having a wonderful experience. The hunt was held at Sugar Valley Farms in Lynnville, Tennessee.

Horses, hounds and humans returned safe and sound after a glorious 2 to 2 ½ hour hunt. Honorary Huntsman Steven Heard hunted the hounds since Karen Kressenberg, MFH and Huntsman was out of the country. He took out 4 ½ couple of hounds, who worked well together and provided wonderful sport.

Other staff members in attendance were: Bill Haggard, MFH and Whipper-in, Stasia Bachrach, MFH and Whipper-in, and Lisa Cooley, Whipper-in. Allison Kimbrough, Cedar Hills Pony Club member, was provided the opportunity to ride as an Honorary Whipper-in alongside Lisa Cooley. Cheri Thomas was the road whip and provided the non-riding guests with opportunity to experience the day as well. Cate Thomas was first flight Field Master and Russlyn Kimbrough was second flight Field Master.

After the hunt, Cedar Hills Pony Club hosted a delicious hunt breakfast. Cedar Hills Pony Club members were very thankful to Mells Fox Hounds for allowing them this amazing opportunity to learn and experience the centuries’ old sport of fox hunting. It is truly an honor for the club to ride with these knowledgeable and experienced riders! A huge thank you to the Masters, staff, hounds, and members of Mells Fox Hounds for a great Boxing Day 2016!
