The Mid-South Dressage Academy concluded its USEF/USDF show season with the Turkey Trot show on November 19-20, 2016. Finally, some fall weather came to the mid-south, with temperatures in the mid to upper 50s and a brisk wind – but sunny! Inside Elizabeth Clifton’s indoor arena, it was quite comfortable.

Elizabeth was well pleased with the turnout, especially since it was the weekend after the U.S. Dressage Finals. “We have a group from Jonesboro, AR, one from the Franklin, TN area, several from Louisiana,” and the local folks. “We have about 40 entries and we have a full house; all the stalls are full.”

Some good news for Kathryn Stoy – she just earned her USDF gold medal! Kathryn was Saturday’s Grand Prix winner with Em River Side Lady, earning 61.500.

Saturday’s and Sunday’s Open Prix St. Georges winner was Alexandra Du Celliee Muller on Rumba, earning 68.026 and 68.289.

Debbie Hill was showing this weekend with Cartier. She won the US Dressage Finals Fourth Level Freestyle Championship Open on Cartier, with a score of 74.389% and was fifth in the Fourth Level Championship Open. At the Turkey Trot show she won the Intermediate II on Cartier with 70.789 and 69.737.

Judge Kem Barbosa, of Prinston, NJ, had good things to say about the show, too. “All the rides are very respectable, and the facility is exceptional! There are some lovely horses here. The riding levels are respectable and competitive.” Barbosa travels all over the place and she was well pleased with the “supportive atmosphere. I have been well received,” she said.
