The third annual Oak Grove Hunt Club Combined Test was held at Misty Meadows Farm near Byhalia, Miss. on November 19, 2016. This was a Dressage and Cross Country combined test and was designed to introduce people and horses that are new to eventing to the sport. The event attracted many junior riders who had never competed in combined training before. In addition to the combined test, there was a Dressage only division.
The Novice/Training division was designed as a “move up” test for those riders who wanted to introduce their horses to jumps that were a maximum challenge for the Novice division, getting ready for Training division.
The Beginner Novice, Modified Terrified, and Green As Grass division courses were designed to help riders build confidence riding in the open. The course was compact enough so that spectators could move around easily to watch a rider jump multiple obstacles. Peggy Gaboury was the Dressage judge and Peggy Hart, owner of Misty Meadows, was the course designer.
Combined Test winners were:
Novice/Training – Danielle Tursky on Bailey
Beginner Novice – Ashley Evans on Splash of Class
Modified Terrified, Division A – Marie Vitullo on Night Owl
Modified Terrified, Division B – Shannyn Welsh on Cadence
Green as Grass, Division A – Anna Williams on Gift of Gabe
Green as Grass, Division B – Jeri Bechard on Touch N Go
