Nashoba Carriage Association held their second Driving Derby at Kimberlin Farms in Olive Branch, MS over the Labor Day weekend. Sunday, September 4 was the fun day, with first course walk at noon and the first driver on course at 1 p.m.

A Driving Derby competition consists of one or more rounds over a course consisting of pairs of cones and marathon-type obstacles. A round is run as a timed competition, with penalties converted to seconds. Total time determines placings and the lowest time wins. Joanna Wilburn said she was “thrilled!” that 14 people had signed up to drive the Derby. “Whether people came to drive or just watch, we all had a blast! The weather was better than the last one, but it was still hot.” As usual, Nashoba members were on hand with water, other refreshments, and sandwiches for a holiday picnic.

“Thanks to Ann Kimberlin for our wonderful venue,” Wilburn continued. “We all loved the freshly painted Dressage borders. We had 14 runs through the course and a great turnout!”
