The Middle TN Carriage Club (MTCC) held their popular Driving Derby again on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Cannon Carriage Center, Valhalla Farms, in Woodbury, TN.
It was a fun day and great turnout with 12 horse/ponies and carriages evenly spread across the Training and Preliminary+ divisions. The course consisted of cones, a bridge crossing, and marathon obstacles. A course map shows the “Derby course.” Ribbons are awarded for the fastest time around the course, with penalties for hitting cones or obstacles converted to seconds and added to time. Additionally, the fastest Training rounds and Preliminary rounds, regardless of horse size, were awarded Champion and Reserve ribbons.
First places were as follows:
Training VSE/Small Pony: Tonna Bruce driving Mickey Blue Eyes
Training Pony: Ardeth Obenauf driving Sybil
Training Horse: Rose Marie Lawson driving Milo
Training Pair: Carole Moss driving Freckles & Max (Training Champ)
Prelim+ VSE/Small Pony: Kathleen Carey-Plock driving Hero (Prelim Champ)
Prelim+ Pony: Joanna Wilburn driving Berry
Prelim+ Horse: Greg Walcott driving Lyricc
