It’s time for summer camp! There are many summer horseback riding camps offered in the mid-south area. Following is a sampling of horse-related camp activities in the mid-south, listed in alphabetical order. Every attempt has been made to verify the accuracy of the information listed, but please check with the individual camps, as information may change.

Aintree Farms Pony Camp, at 8999 Claiborne Farm Drive, Germantown, TN 38138. The camp is geared for the beginner to the novice rider, ages 4 and up. Aintree pony camp will teach your child basic horsemanship skills both on and off the horse. Session 1:  June 13-17; Session 2:  June 20-24; Session 3:  July 11-15. Sessions run 9am-2pm Monday-Friday with an hour long riding lesson, horsey arts and crafts, creative learning about horsemanship and barn etiquette. Each day concludes with a swim in the neighborhood pool and we have a horse show to show off their new skills on Friday. Cost is $390 per week. Ardor Equestrian Summer Camp, 4906 Canada Road, Lakeland, TN 38002. For ages 7-14.  Summer Camp weeks are June - August.  Campers will enjoy beginner to intermediate riding lessons, trail rides, and proper horse care. Autumn Chase Farm, 5580 Forest Hill Irene Rd., Collierville, TN 38125,offers 2 weeks of camps: June 20-24 and July 18-22, 9 am – 2 pm daily. Camps are $350 per session. All campers will have a riding lesson every day, horse care lessons, trail rides, games, arts and crafts. The rider education program spotlights safety, understanding, and fun. Bit By Bit Ranch,32 Browning Hills, Milan, TN 38355 will host 4 weeks of summer horse camp. We provide gentle, experienced horses and loads of fun with positive, safe horse activities. Blue Ribbon Riding Academy, 439 E. Sowell Rd., Canton MS, 39046, offers horsemanship camps for children ages 4 and up. Blue Ribbon camps are a fantastic way to expose children to horses, or sharpen existing riding skills. There’s lots of ride time during camps and a horseshow every Friday! Camp of the Rising Son, 444 Lake Road, French Camp, Mississippi 39745. Horse camp for ages 13-17 is July 11-16. Cost is $495.  At horse camp, you can explore over 300 acres on horseback and learn horse-handling skills as well as vaulting, which is gymnastics on horseback. Horse Camp participants enjoy meals on the trail, an overnighter, Bible studies, crafts, and time in Lake Anne. Campers enjoy riding in a covered arena on bad weather days. At the end of the week, parents and friends can watch as campers demonstrate their newly learned skills in the Closing Rodeo. Camp Sycamore Hills, Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee, Ashland City, TN hosts a variety of week-long horse camps in June and July for various ages and levels of experience, from third grade to twelfth grade. Campers can learn about grooming, basic care and beginner-level riding; hit the trails; learn to jump; or sharpen their Western and English riding skills. Crossroads Ranch Camp, 1875 Burke Hollow Rd., Nolensville, TN 37135. June 6-10 Summer boot camp – Specifically geared for past or existing intermediate to advanced students - $400. June 22-24 Youth Summer Camp for all ages and for the general public -$300. July 11-13 Youth Summer Camp for all ages and for the general public -$300. Students in the Crossroads horseback riding lessons program have access to over 70 acres of scenic hills and plains, 4 miles of backwoods trails, a large 100’ x 200’ arena, three training pens, equine obstacle courses, and some of the best riding instructors. Fisherville Farms, 1825 N. Collierville-Arlington Road, Eads, TN 38028 offers camps geared toward beginner riders throughout the summer, as well as a one-week camp for riders wanting to advance to the next level. Camps run 9 am –12 pm, open to riders ages 6 to 12: June 6-10; June 13-17; June 20-24; and July 11-15. Cost of these camps is $175. Intermediate camp for ages 8-15 is June 27-July 1; cost is $200. Little Kids camp, ages 3-6 is June 27-July 1; cost is $125.  Advanced overnight camp is July 17-22. GG Horse Camp, 345 Watkins Dr., Moscow, TN offers a fun Christian Horse Camp, with over 20 years experience in horsemanship. Offered to children ages 6 and up. Summer Camp meets May –Aug, Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday until 12 noon. Children bring their own lunch. We also offer overnight camp during the week Tuesday –Thursday , picking up on Friday, space limited. Overnight Weekend Camp, Fri. 6 pm. until Sunday 12:00, reservations only. Hidden Hills Farm and Saddle Club, 5900 Edgemon Road, Ooltewah, TN 37363 offers nine weeks of summer camps. Camps are organized at various levels according to riding experience; are for boys and girls; run Monday through Friday, from 9:30-1:30; $300/session. The 2016 Summer Camp dates are listed on their website, as are registration forms: www.hiddenhillsfarm.com. Horsemania Camp at Coyote Run Arena, Mason, TN offers Ponytails Camp at Horsemania. Day camp is Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Cost is $285 per week. Ponytails Camp is for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders ages 6-14. Overnight camp for girls has weekly sessions starting June 6 through July. Campers arrive Monday morning and leave Friday afternoon. Students receive instruction in western horsemanship, barrel racing, pole bending, and trail riding. Overnight camp is $425 per week. Hunter’s Edge Stables at 5366 Forest Hill-Irene Road, Memphis, TN 38125 offers a variety of camps and clinics, open to children ages 6 and up who love horses; beginners through advanced riders.  Summer Camp Session 1: May 30-June 3, Session 2: June 6-10, Session 3: June 13-17 Session 4: June 20-23 Boot Camp; Session 5: June 27-July 3, Session 6: July 11-15; Session 7: July 18-22. Maple Grove Farm, at 4961 Windsong Park Drive in Collierville, TN 38017, offers 6 types of Farm Camps, June 13 through July 29. Each camp has a featured theme; hours are 8:30 – 3:00. Horseback riding and swimming lessons are offered. They also have the Round-up Gang, 8:00 – 5:30. Menagerie Farm, 7751 Wolf River Blvd., Germantown, TN 38138, offers day camp for ages 4-12.  Full Day Camp is Monday-Friday, 8 am – 5 pm and costs $295. Half Day camp is Monday-Friday, 8 am – 12 noon and costs $245. Camps begin May 31 and continue weekly through July 29. Campers ride daily, with a horse show at the end of the week. Midland Farms, 120 Trott Rd., Bell Buckle, TN 37020 will host two summer riding camps: June  6-10 and July 11-15 from 9 am-3 pm.  Price per week is $225. Music City Riding Academy, 2950 Hwy 41-A N., Shelbyville, TN 37160, offers ten sessions of summer riding camps. The Academy has operated a summer riding camp for 30 years. Campers must be 8 years of age and camp runs 8 am – 2 pm daily. Campers have riding lessons on well-schooled horses in the arena. They learn to how care for their horses, such as feeding, grooming, observing farrier work and veterinary procedures. Helmets are worn at all times when handling/riding the horses. Each camper works at his/her own pace. Meridian Equine Education Center, 3815 Woodbury Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37127. Courtney Smith, a graduate of the MTSU Horse Science Program and a professional trainer, hosts several camps for various age groups.June 6-10, Rodeo Week Grades 1st-6th. June 20-24, Everything HorsesCamp Grades 1st-6th.July 11-15, Little Tykes Ages 5-9 only July 18-22, Intensive AdvancedCamp Grades 7th and up must have previous riding experience. Activities include horseback riding, first aid training, crafts and games. All campers will ride twice a day in a group lesson or in group riding games for the full “horse” experience. Oak Crest Farm at James Creek Stables, 1115 Dent Road, Eads, TN 38028, offers four weeks of summer camp: June 20-24; June 27-July 1; July 11-15; and July 18-22. Cost of the camp is $375 per week and camp hours are 9 am to 3pm. Oak Crest Farm offers horse and pony lovers the opportunity to develop or advance their horsemanship and riding skills in a safe and encouraging environment. Oak Hill Stables, at 670 County Road 101, Oxford, MS 38655, offers Camp Oak Hill June 26-July 24. The Horseback Riding Camp is for girls 7-19 years of age, experienced to beginner riders. Choices are overnight and day camps. Camp activities include riding, swimming, arts & crafts, field trips, and horseshows. Horsemanship Day Camp is suitable for beginner or intermediate riders. The activities include horseback riding, grooming, safety, handling, and the general care of horses. Old West Special Trails, at 1656 N. Collierville-Arlington Road, Collierville, TN 38017, offers eight weeks of summer day camps from the second week in June through the first week in August. There are beginner/ intermediate camps as well as advanced camps. Camps hours are Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. -12 p.m. Student horse shows on Friday. Camp fee is $300 per week. Peachtree Farms, 4819 Murfreesboro Road, Arrington, TN37014, horse riding camps are designed to improve horsemanship for riders of all ages – sportsmanlike conduct and a spirit of cooperation, patience, kindness, and partnership with the horse. Some camps specialize in dressage or jumping. Beginner day camps are offered weekly Monday - Friday during the summer starting June 6. Half-day camps are available for younger ones 4 and up. Owner Polly Peach Grammer has taught riding camps and clinics for more than 50 years. She is certified by DGWS (Division Girls Women Sports), HSA (Horsemanship Safety Association) and CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association). UT Martin Equestrian, Martin, TN. Skyhawk Equestrian Camp, June 12-16 for ages 8 and up. Participants gain fundamental instruction on basic horsemanship skills, regardless of experience level. Students will participate in exercises that increase their skill sets as well as training techniques for their specific mount to make them into a more effective rider.  Riders are encouraged to bring their own horse to camp, however, horses are available for $100 for the duration.  Cost of camp is $500. Victory Ranch Summer Camp at 4330 Mecklinberg, Bolivar, TN is a non-denominational Christian summer camp and retreat center. Victory Ranch hosts about 800 campers each summer and features top outdoor adventure areas and great accommodations. It is located on 550 acres of rolling hills and woodlands in Hardeman County. Camp includes horseback riding among a host of other activities. Eight summer camp sessions run May 31-July 23. Some camps for boys only, some for girls only, some coed. **Walnut Trace Farm, 8388 Collins Road, Nashville, TN 37221, is located in Bellevue and offers weekly riding clinics during June. Clinics run Monday -Thursday from 9am -3pm with before care and after care available. Session cost is $375.00. We offer individualized instruction for beginners and advanced riders. Our mission is to teach children, ages 5-12, English horseback riding skills, horse safety, and confidence both on and off the horse.  We pair riders with safe and appropriate mounts. Daily activities include riding lessons, unmounted/ground lessons with horses, games, grooming, scavenger hunts and other horse related activities.
