The Show Place Arena in Memphis, TN was rockin’ and rollin’ at the second annual St. Jude Barrel Jam, February 26-28, 2016. The show offered $8,000 added money, 75% payback in Open 4D, and 80% payback in Sidepots, which were only $25. The event benefits the patients at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where “families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.”

The show offered all types of ways to contribute to St. Jude. An auction offered items such as a bronze statue of a whitetail deer, “Comin’ Thru The Rye,” commissioned by Ducks Unlimited. There was a 1-hour flight simulation for four, offered by the FedEx Air Ops Training Center in Memphis, TN. Angela Sue Photography donated a$75 gift certificate. There were a variety of horse fly masks at auction. Breedings to several stallions were offered. Cashel donated shipping wraps and bandages, and cantle-mounted saddlebags. Cliff Goodrich donated one month of Tuesday night practices. Classic Equine donated horse boots.

Ronald McDonald made an appearance and was available for photo shoots with the kids.

Competitors could register as fundraisers for St. Jude. Those who raised $1,000 or more would received an RV spot plus 2 stalls or a Shea Michelle Buckles custom buckle. For those who raised $2500 or more, the prize was a custom breast collar and headstall from Diamond Cross Saddles. Those who raised $5,000 or more could choose a $1,000 gift card toward a Martin Saddle from Just Horsin Around Tack, or a saddle from Diamond Cross Saddles, with matching breast collar and headstall.

Nealey Dalton and Mango had the fastest time of the weekend - 14.359 - out of 331 horses. It was a fun weekend for a serious cause, raising over $100,000 for St. Jude.
