Hunters Edge Stables, on Forest Hill-Irene Road south of Germantown, Tenn., hosted their first ever two-day Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) home meet on October 16-17, 2021, utilizing their new covered arena.
Owner and Trainer Beanie Cone wrote: “We kicked off the season hosting Jackson Prep, Jackson Academy/Winterview Farm and Memphis Youth Equestrian, and boy did they bring on the heat! Saturday our High School team (Mid-South IET) finished as Reserve High Point, and our Middle School team (Mid-South IET) finished as High Point Team. Our horse Commanchi received the Horse of the Day award, and our Turner Kitchens was awarded the Sportsmanship Award.
“On Sunday October 17, we were in the groove and both Mid-South IET teams finished as Champion High Point Teams, with our own Sydney Milner tied for High Point Rider of the day.
“A huge thank you to Simon, Susan, Victoria, and Tara for being our steward, secretary, medic, and judge. Another huge thank you to all of our families and local sponsors for making this meet possible: Ole Miss Equestrian, Digger O’Dell Nursery- The Kitchens Family, Dappled Boutique - The Willard Family, Chuck Hutton Chevrolet, Financial Risk Advisors- Jonathan Fortenberry, Central BBQ - The Blondis Family, Sunrise Memphis - The Blondis Family, Wells & Associates - The Wells Family, and Rhodes College Equestrian. We are fortunate to be so well supported by IEA and our Memphis families!”
The next IEA meet was at Jackson Prep/Serenity Acres at Reunion Farm in Madison, Miss. on December 4-5, 2021 with both upper and middle school competition.
Hunters Edge Stables also hosts the Ole Miss Intercollegiate Horse Show Team. Their meet was at Auburn on November 20, 2021.
Camp HES is also back over the Holiday Season, December 30-31, 2021 from 9 am – 2 pm, with plenty of time in the saddle, fun with friends, crafts, and ringing in 2022.
