WTHJA hosted its annual Tennessee Hunter Jumper Classic August 28-30, 2015 at the GCHS Arena in Germantown, TN. This was a USEF Regional II/ Jumper Level 1 rated show, with Judges John Roper of Nashville, TN and Tara Krisle-Williams of Collierville, TN for the Hunters and Hunt Seat Equitation, and Shirley Lile of Memphis, TN for the Jumpers. Course designer was Eric Mayberry of Myakka City, FL. Show Manager Barney Mallace was well pleased with the number of entries, which were about the same as last year; 105 horses were entered in the show.
On Saturday night was a special birthday bash for Mindy Wurzburg.

In Short Stirrup on Saturday, young rider Kendall Glenn had one of those “Chronicle of the Horse Missed It Monday” moments; “because we’ve all been there.” Her horse Kaleidoscope jumped so big over a fence that she jumped Kendall right out of the saddle; she landed on the pony’s neck in front of the saddle. Undaunted, and with lots of encouragement from her coach Suzy Young, friends and family on the sidelines, she got back in the saddle, as Kaleidoscope stood quietly while she recovered her position. Then they finished the course. Suzy  Young says Kendall and the pony have a close relationship. “Kaleidoscope, Kally, is a mare that I have had for 10 to 15 years. She has had several different riders, but really has formed a special attachment to Kendall. She nickers to her just like she used to nicker to her foal. It is so sweet!”  The pair went on to compete, and place, in other Short Stirrup classes and in the Short Stirrup Classic on Sunday.

Sunday was “All Classics Sunday” beginning with the $500 Brerfox Farm sponsored USHJA National Hunter Derby; 17 riders were undaunted by the steady rain. Jason Schnelle and Fiona won the Hunter Derby; Schnelle also placed fifth on his other ride, Q, owned by Mia Colombo. Audrey Muscari and Ricardo were a close second. Mary Mielenz and Avonlea were third, with Addison Bihm and Forever taking fourth.

Full results of the show are posted at horseshowsonline.com. The final WTHJA show of the 2015 season is Harvest Time, November 5-8, 2015
