It’s time for summer camp! There are many summer horseback riding camps offered in the mid-south area. Following is a sampling of horse-related camp activities, listed in alphabetical order. Every attempt has been made to verify the accuracy of the information listed, but please check with the individual camp of interest, as information may change.

Adamo Equestrian at Stone Gate Farm,335 Roddy Branch Road, Knoxville, TN 37853. Summer camp runs 8-12 daily the entire month of June. There are two week-long sessions for riders already in a riding program and two week-long sessions for those new to horses. The summer camp program teaches all aspects of horsemanship including daily riding, horse care topics, visits by equine professionals such as farrier, veterinarian, equine masseuse, crafts and other activities. Aintree Farms Pony Camp, at 8999 Claiborne Farm Drive, Germantown, TN 38138. The camp is geared for the beginner to the novice rider, ages 4 and up. Aintree pony camp will teach your child basic horsemanship skills both on and off the horse. Session 1:  June 8-12; Session 2:  June 22-26; Session 3:  July 6-10. Sessions run 9-2pm daily with an hour long riding lesson, horsey arts and crafts , creative learning about horsemanship and barn etiquette. Each day concludes with a swim in the neighborhood pool and we have a horse show to show off their new skills on Friday. Cost is $390 weekly. Campers will enjoy beginner to intermediate riding lessons, trail rides, and proper horse care. Bit By Bit Ranch,32 Browning Hills, Milan, TN 38355 will host 5 weeks of summer horse camp. We provide gentle, experienced horses and loads of fun with positive, safe horse activities. Blue Ribbon Riding Academy, 439 E. Sowell Rd., Canton MS, 39046, offers the camp for children ages 4 and up. Blue Ribbon camps are a fantastic way to expose children to horses, or sharpen existing riding skills. There’s lots of ride time at camp and a horseshow every Friday! Camp dates are June 8-11 and June 15-19, June 22-26, July 6-10, and July 27-31, from 8:30 am to 2:45 pm. Cost is $350/week. Camp of the Rising Son, 444 Lake Road, French Camp, Mississippi 39745. Horse camp for girls ages 13-17 is July 13-18. Cost is $490.  At horse camp, you can explore over 300 acres on horseback and learn horse-handling skills as well as vaulting, which is gymnastics on horseback. Horse Camp participants enjoy meals on the trail, an overnighter, Bible studies, crafts, and time in Lake Anne. Campers enjoy riding in a covered arena on bad weather days. At the end of the week, parents and friends can watch as campers demonstrate their newly learned skills in the Closing Rodeo. Camp Sycamore Hills, Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee, Ashland City, TN hosts a variety of week-long horse camps in June and July for various ages and levels of experience, from third grade to twelfth grade. Campers can learn about grooming, basic care and beginner-level riding; hit the trails; learn to jump; or sharpen their Western and English riding skills. Fisherville Farms, 1825 N. Collierville-Arlington Road, Eads, TN 38028 offers camps geared toward beginner riders throughout the summer, as well as a one-week camp for riders wanting to advance to the next level. GG Horse Camp, 345 Watkins Dr., Moscow, TN offers a fun Christian Horse Camp, with over 15 years experience in horsemanship. Offered to children ages 6 and up. Summer Camp meets May –Aug, Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday until 12 noon; $200 a week. Children bring their own lunch. We also offer overnight camp during the week Tuesday –Thursday , picking up on Friday, space limited. Overnight Weekend Camp, Fri 6 pm. until Sunday 12:00, reservations only. Hidden Hills Farm and Saddle Club, 5900 Edgemon Road, Ooltewah, TN 37363 offers seven weeks of summer camps. 5 days, 4 hours a day = 20 hours of horses! Hillside Stables, 2720 Red Banks Rd. N., Byhalia, MS 38611. Camps run Monday-Friday, 9am to 3 pm, June 1-5, June 8-12, and July 20-24. Campers aged 6-16 years receive daily instruction in English or western riding, plus barn activities and crafts. Campers can learn ground school with PK Theobale, round pen training and the equine obstacle course.  Campers are grouped by skill level, so everyone can have fun and improve their horsemanship. There is a large covered arena, so camp riding never gets rained out.  New camp director is Kendra Napper, a NY 4-H state champion in Dressage, Western, English and Drill Team. Horsemania Camp at Coyote Run Arena, Mason, TN offers an overnight camp for girls and day camp for boys and girls. The lessons are taught by an HSA certified instructor with emphasis on horse safety, grooming and saddling.  Horsemania Camp introduces beginners to Western horsemanship and horseback riding and builds confidence in the saddle. On the last day of camp parents can watch their children perform in a small horse show.  Weekly sessions start June 1 and continue through the last week of July.  Coyote Run Arena is a 74,000 sq. ft. indoor facility, so camps are never rained out. Hunter’s Edge Stables at 5366 Forest Hill-Irene Road, Memphis, TN 38125 offers a variety of camps and clinics, open to children ages 6 and up who love horses; beginners through advanced riders.  Summer Camp Session 1: May 25-29, Session 2: June 1-5, Session 3: June 15-19, Session 4: June 29-July 3, Session 5: July 6-10, Session 6: July 20-24. $375 per session. James Creek Stables 1115 Dent Road, Eads, TN 38028. Basic horsemanship camp designed for kids ages 6 to 16 with a love of horses, but no hands on experience. Our goal is to give your children a well-rounded and safe understanding of horses. Summer Camp dates are: Week 1: June 8-12, 8 am-2 pm. Week 2: July 6-10, 8 am-2 pm. Cost is $200/child.

Maple Grove Farm, at 4961 Windsong Park Drive in Collierville, TN 38017, offers full day Farm Camps, 8:30 am-3:00 pm., four weeks in June and three in July. Menagerie Farm, 3135 Shea Road, Collierville, TN 38017, offers day camp for ages 4-12.  Full Day Camp is Monday-Friday, 8 am – 5 pm and costs $295. Half Day camp is Monday-Friday, 8 am – 12 noon and costs $245. Camps begin the last week in May and continue weekly through July 24. Campers ride daily, with a horse show at the end of the week. Western riding lessons taught. Midland Farms, 120 Trott Rd., Bell Buckle, TN 37020 will host two summer riding camps: June 8-12 and July 13-17 from 9 am-3 pm.  Price per week is $225. Music City Riding Academy, 13905 Old Hickory Blvd., Nashville, TN, offers ten sessions of summer riding camps: two in May, four in June, and four in July. The Academy has operated a summer day camp program for 27 years. Campers must be 8 years of age and camp runs 8 am – 2 pm daily. Campers have riding lessons on well-schooled horses in the arena. They learn to how care for their horses, such as feeding, grooming, observing farrier work and veterinary procedures. Helmets are worn at all times when handling/riding the horses. Each camper works at his/her own pace. Need-A-Hand Horse Training, 3815 Woodbury Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37127. Courtney Smith, a graduate of the MTSU Horse Science Program and a professional trainer, hosts several camps for various age groups. Full day camps are 9am – 4 pm and cost $200. Half day camps are from 9am – 12 pm and cost $125. Little Tykes half day is June 8-12. Everything Horses runs July 13-17. Advanced Riding camp is July 20-24. Oak Crest Farm, 11660 Monterey Road, Eads, TN 38028, will offer two weeks of summer camp: June 15-19, and June 22-26. Cost of the camp is $375 per week and camp times are 9am to 3pm. Oak Crest Farm offers horse and pony lovers the opportunity to develop or advance their horsemanship and riding skills in a safe and encouraging environment. Facilities include two arenas: a covered arena and an outdoor arena. Oak Hill Stables, at 670 County Road 101, Oxford, MS 38655, offers Camp Oak Hill June 21-August 2. The Horseback Riding Camp is for girls 7-19 years of age, experienced to beginner riders. Choices are overnight camping in the bunkhouse and day-only camp. Camp activities include riding, swimming, arts & crafts, field trips, and horseshows. Private and group horseback riding lessons are available in English or western disciplines. Each camp session offers individualized instruction for all levels of riders. The activities include English riding, grooming, safety, handling, and the general care of horses. Camps hours are Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. -12 p.m. Student horse shows on Friday. Camp fee is $300 per week. Campers learn how to care for horses as well as how to walk, trot, canter and trail ride. The culmination of camp is a horse show with awards for all. Peachtree Farms, 4819 Murfreesboro Road, Arrington, TN37014, horse riding camps are designed to improve horsemanship for riders of all ages – sportsmanlike conduct and a spirit of cooperation, patience, kindness, and partnership with the horse. Some camps specialize in dressage or jumping. Beginner day camps are offered weekly Monday - Friday during the summer starting June 1. Half-day camps are available for younger ones 4 and up. Owner Polly Peach Grammer has taught riding camps and clinics for more than 50 years. She is certified by DGWS (Division Girls Women Sports), HSA (Horsemanship Safety Association) and CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association). Shelby Farms Park Equestrian Camp, (ages 8-13), 7171 Pine Lake Drive West Memphis, TN 38135. Offers beginner level horseback riding lessons led by equestrian experts with 40+ years of experience. Tap Root Farm, 4104 Clovercroft Road, Franklin, TN 37067 offers Summer Farm Camp. Children learn about everyday farm life – where real food comes from and how it grows. They work with large and small animals, learning how to care for them and responsibilities. Horseback Riding is a huge part of camp activities. Campers learn Western and Hunt Seat disciplines, as well as horse health and hoof care, tack care, and barn care. Advanced riders learn drill team exercises. UT Martin Equestrian, Martin, TN, offers summer equestrian camps. Advanced Camps are June 14-17 and June 21-24 for riders ages 14-18. Intermediate camp for ages 8 and up is July 12-16. Participants gain fundamental instruction on basic horsemanship skills, regardless of experience level. Overnight camp offers 1-on-1 instruction and riders experience a day in the life of a college athlete. Victory Ranch Summer Camp, at 4330 Mecklinberg, Bolivar, TN is a non-denominational Christian summer camp and retreat center. Victory Ranch hosts about 800 campers each summer and features top outdoor adventure areas and great accommodations. It is located on 550 acres of rolling hills and woodlands in Hardeman County. Camp includes horseback riding among a host of other activities. Seven summer camp sessions run May 27-July 19. Some camps for boys only, some for girls only, some coed. Walnut Trace Farm, 8388 Collins Road, Nashville, TN 37221, is located in Bellevue and offers weekly riding clinics during June. Clinics run Monday -Thursday from 9am -3pm with before care and after care available. Session cost is $375.00. We offer individualized instruction for beginners and advanced riders. Our mission is to teach children, ages 5-12, English horseback riding skills, horse safety, and confidence both on and off the horse.  We pair riders with safe and appropriate mounts. Daily activities include riding lessons, unmounted/ground lessons with horses, games, grooming, scavenger hunts and other horse related activities.
