Lusitanos On Focus: International Traveling Exhibition at Arkansas State University Fine Arts Gallery
Photography exhibition, Lusitanos on Focus, was on display at the ASU Fine Arts Gallery from January 17-29, with a closing reception on January 26. The Lusitanos on Focus exhibit is a series of photographic essays done in Portugal, about the world of Lusitano horses and their cultural and historic importance. The exhibition is the product of an international photography workshop on Lusitano horses, held in Portugal in 2011 for twenty of the world's leading equestrian photographers from nine different countries. This was the third stop of a traveling exhibit, and the first USA showing.

Associate Professor Kimberly Vickrey of Arkansas State University attended the International Workshop for Professional Photographers, Lusitanos on Focus, in Portugal in 2011. She was one of a limited number of graphic design and photography professionals (and the only university professor) invited to participate alongside 19 other artists from nine different countries. The workshop was held in various parts of Portugal April 30-May 4, 2011. The rigorous 5-day schedule averaged 1500 images per day with shoots beginning at 5 a.m. and ending at 11 p.m. Locations included The Royal Riding School of Lisbon (Escola Portuguesa d Arte Equestre), the Mafra National Palace, the Portugal mounted military (Militar de Educacao Fisica e Desporto) and the art of Rejoneo (bullfighting on horse). From this workshop, Vickery’s work was exhibited in The Colorfoto Gallery in Alvalade, Lisbon Portugal, and has been accepted for exhibitions in two additional galleries: Golega Portugal and Porto Portugal for the 2011 exhibition year.
At ASU, Vickery teaches graphic design and photography for the graphic designer and continues to design and photograph for select clients.
