The Field Trialing season is in full swing, with mid-south bird dog trainers, owners, and handlers working their dogs to their best, hoping to qualify for the National Championships for Field Trialing Bird Dogs, held at Ames Plantation in February 2012. Galleries of bird dog enthusiasts follow the dogs throughout the braces, hoping to catch a rare glimpse of a dog at point.
Marshall County Field Trials was held November 10-13 at Sonny Hawk’s farm south of Holly Springs, MS. There were 46 entries competing, six in the shooting dog category on Friday; 26 in all-age on Saturday; and 14 in the Derby on Sunday.
