The annual Mid South Quarter Horse Breeders Futurity (MSQHBF) and AQHA Shows were held October 28-30 at the Agricenter Show Place Arena in Memphis, TN. MSQHBF is the second largest equine event held in the Memphis and Shelby County area each year, and one of the largest held at Agricenter Show Place Arena. Offered is a full AQHA program, Open, Amateur, Novice Amateur, Youth and Novice Youth, plus 17 halter and performance classes. The show had around 200 entries each day for the AQHA classes and 120 Futurity entries.
The judges were: on Friday: Patrick Kayser, TN; on Saturday and Sunday: Clint Fullerton, MO and Nancy Wilde, TX. Friday’s show packed in 82 classes, from weanling stallions, mares and geldings to performance classes under both English and Western saddles. Highlights of the weekend’s classes were the MSQHBF 3-year-old Snaffle Bit, the MSQHBF Bobby Davis Memorial 2-year-old Snaffle, the MSQHBR 2-year-old and 3-year-old Non-Pro WP Snaffle, and the MSQHBF Maturity (4 and older). Cute meters “pegged” during the Walk-Trot (children 10 and under) and Small Fry Horsemanship classes on Friday! On Sunday, the 2-year-old Slot Class offered 80% payback on the $250 entry fee. Belt Buckles and prizes were given in all MSQHBF classes.
