Showcase Equestrian Center Hosts Open House and Learn To Event Show
Young mid-south riders had an opportunity to learn about the sport of eventing at the Open House and “Learn to Event” show hosted by Tesie Wallace and her family at their newly refurbished Showcase Equestrian Center on Dent Road in Eads, TN. The Open House, with food and refreshments, was held on September 2 the evening before the show. It included a guided cross country course walk so the competitors could see the lay of the land and jumps to plan their ride for the next day.
The show on Saturday September 3 provided classes in all three phases of eventing: dressage, cross country, and a stadium course.
The classes were:
Pre-Ameoba: dressage 2011 USDF Introductory Test A; jumps up to 12”; cross country not timed.
Ameoba: dressage 2011 USDF Introductory Test B ; jumps at 18”; cross country not timed.
Tadpole: dressage 2011 USDF Introductory Test B ; jumps 2’; cross country not timed.
Modified Beginner Novice: dressage 2010 USEF Beginner Nov. Test A; jumps 2’3”; cross country not timed.
Beginner Novice: dressage 2010 USEF Beginner Nov. Test A; jumps 2’6”; stadium: 300 meters/minute.
The judges were Michelle Renshaw for Dressage and Jack Nash for Stadium Jumping.
In addition to the three phase tests, dressage only and jumper only classes were offered.
Tresie has poured a lot of work into updating the facilities at Showcase Equestrian Center in an effort to make it state of the art, with new barn interior, new stalls, new barn roofs and ventilation, new fencing and GTC textile footing for the arena.
