Mid-South Horses & Riders at FEI World Equestrian Games Millington, TN and Summit, MS riders in Reining Freestyle Exhibition Competition at the FEI World Equestrian Games kicked off on opening day, September 25, 2010 with the Reining World Championships. By September 26th, the powerhouse reining team from the United States, Tim McQuay, Craig Schmersal, Tom McCutcheon, and Shawn Flarida, had won the gold medal! Reining individual final competition was on Thursday, September 30. Millington, TN resident Jonathan Timberlake and Summit, MS resident Laura Sumrall “danced” with their horses to the music “Unforgettable” by Nat King Cole in the Reining Freestyle Exhibition Thursday evening. September 26 was also the team and individual endurance riding competition. Grand Prix Dressage began on September 27 and continued through September 29. The eventing competition began with dressage Friday October 1, the cross country phase on Saturday October 2, and stadium jumping phase on Sunday afternoon, October 3. Jumping competition was Monday October 4 and 5, with team individual finals on October 6 and individual competition on October 8. Para-dressage competition ran on consecutive days October 6, 7, and 8, interspersed with Vaulting. Driving competition got started with the dressage phase on October 7 and 8, the cross-country phase or marathon on Saturday October 9, and finished with the obstacle phase on Sunday October 10. Para-dressage and vaulting also finished on Sunday with the individual freestyle tests for para-dressage and freestyle team finals for vaulting.
