Pony Clubbers Shine at Regional Dressage Rally Southern Run Pony Club at Deep South Regional Dressage Rally By Meredith Tipton On May 28 thirteen members of the Southern Run Pony Club (SRPC) traveled to Gulfport, MS to compete in the 2010 Deep South Regional Dressage Rally. Competitors at the three-day weekend show were rode dressage tests, plus were evaluated on their horse management skills. All rode their individual tests, and some team members competed in extra events including Pas de Deux and musical freestyles. SRPC sent the only Quadrille team to the rally. Cedarwind Farm trainer Evie Tumlin choreographed a wonderful quadrille for four of her students to ride. The 70's inspired music and movements for the quadrille finished with a dramatic flair as the girls saluted the judges and then did the motions of the Y-M-C-A song. One of the highlights of the weekend was SRPC member Elizabeth Hubbard receiving the highest score of the entire rally. Elizabeth, a D1, and her talented gelding Joe Cool achieved a 75.5 on one of their Intro tests. This score would not be beat by any other riders throughout the weekend! All SRPC members who attended Rally were D level pony clubbers, stabling together in the D barn. There were ten teams in the D competition, three from Southern Run Pony Club. SRPC Team A, which included Chandler Head, Ansley Caldwell, Gabby Withrowe, and Stable Manager Nikki Butler, finished 4th overall in Horse Management and 9th in the riding Team Competition. SRPC Team B, which consisted of Libby Sleeper, Karin Guzman, Gabby Bray, and Maddy Bray, finished 6th overall in Horse Management and 5th in the riding Team Competition. SRPC Team C swept the D barn finishing 1st overall in both Horse Management and in the riding Team Competition. The team members were Elizabeth Hubbard, Alexa Sinha, Blayne Chapman, Megan Guntharp, and horse manager Madison Triplett. Madison Triplett was the Winning Stable Manager of the D rally. SRPC is a member of the Deep South Region and is located in north Mississippi. It is composed of three chapters that meet in Hernando, Oxford, and Tupelo.
