USTRC Muddy River Classic 1,164 ropers competed in the sanctioned qualifier, February 19-21 by Nancy Brannon The United States Team Roping Championships Muddy River Classic filled the Show Place Arena in Memphis, TN with 1,164 ropers from all over the country for the three-day event, February 19-21. The sanctioned qualifier paid out over $100,000 in cash prizes plus silver buckles to the Champions and Reserve Champions. Following are some of the payout winners. Chad Masters of Clarksville, TN and Paul Eaves of Milsap, TX won the Open Average with 36.09 on 5 steers. Austin Nettleship of Paris, KY and Ty Ferrell of Sikeston, MO won the #15 Average Handicap with a fast 27.44 on 4 steers. Ben Ray of Bertrend, MO and Josh Clayton of Buchanan, TN won the #13 Average with 29.04 on 4 steers. They also won the #13 Overall FT. Tommy Pettus, Jr. of Crossville, TN and Jimmy Kelly, Jr. of Eighty Four, PA were tops in the Classic Gold Plus Average with 33.74 on 4 steers. Travis Conner of Benton, KY and Jace McDaniel of Jonesboro, AR beat their competitors in the #12 Average with 30.80 on 4 steers. Brian Barnett of Mountain Home, AR and Chance Roper of Viola, AR were the best in the #11 Average with 38.89 on 4 steers. Cody Inman and Jamie Nelms, both of Elkmont, AL took the prize in #10 Average, with 29.26 on 4 steers. Hunter Moody of Killen, AL and Blair Kelley of Florence, AL roped in the bucks in the #9 Average with 38.48 on 4 steers. Lynn Nelson of Huntingdon, TN and Matt Pierce of Lexington, AL were tops in the #8 PickDraw Average with a high-speed 26.94 on 3 steers. Daina Powers of Kentwood, LA and Doylene Corlew of Burns, TN won the Classic All Girl Average with 58.21 on 4 steers.
