Hunter Highlights Halloween Hunter Pace By Lauren PigfordThe sun was shining with a little breeze and the perfect, not too hot, not too cold temperature for riding. However, instead of a typical Hunter Pace day kids and adults showed up in creative, funny, and original Halloween costumes. Horses wore Indian Paint, halos, different colored polo wraps and rode through Ann and Carl Kimberlin’s beautiful property in Olive Branch, MS on Sunday, October 25th. Every year the Nashoba Carriage Association has a driving Halloween party for the junior drivers. This year the Carriage Association teamed up with barn members of Kimberlin Farms and created a Halloween Hunter Pace for those who wanted to ride and a Halloween Hustle Marathon drive for those who wanted to drive. The Hunter Pace riders enjoyed a course spread over 6 miles. Along the way there were optional, natural and cross country jumps, trails through woods, a maze cut through tall grass, and open, rolling hills to canter through. The Carriages took a separate course through a maze, and open, rolling hills as well. There was even a mimosa stand at the half way mark for the carriage drivers. Once all of the riders and drivers finished their courses they then sat down to enjoy the beautiful weather and a delicious Barbeque meal. Prizes were handed out to the top Hunter Pace teams and the top Carriage drivers. A best costume award was then given once all of the volunteers and coordinators decided on the best dressed. It was a day filled with fun, laughter, and all different types of horses. People with different horse backgrounds and disciplines all came together to celebrate Halloween and the perfect weather.
