Oak Grove Hunter Pace April 4, Holly Springs MS Oak Grove Hunt Club hosted 55 riders at its annual Hunter Pace at Blackwater Creek Ranch in Holly Springs, MS on April 4. The weather was perfect, sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s, and the land was a beautiful place to ride with Dogwoods in full bloom throughout the wooded areas. Riders were treated to a barbeque lunch after the ride and had a chance to win raffle prizes or buy donated items at the “Anything Goes Sale.” For a quick rest mid-way through the ride, Ben and Jordan Bernstein and Marilyn Hiner manned the “Mimosa” stop at High Point. They managed to quench every powerful thirst while riders enjoyed the breathtaking view of the ranch from atop the hill. Oak Grove Hunter Pace attracted the Hickory Valley participants, who ride Saturdays and Mondays in Hickory Valley and had a fun day and a great diversion with Oak Grove riders. “Hickory Valley is really a horsey town and this was so much fun for all of us who were able to come,” said Janet Hawken. First place on the Jumping course went to Chip Carruthers and Mark Harris; second place to Tommy Brannon and Johann Bruhwiler. Several specialty awards were given: Charles Cober on Pogo and Jim Robbins on Snickers, as the “Hickory Valley Old Timers,” won the “Most Prepared for Ambush” award. The “Tally Ho’s,” Janet Hawken and Barbara Henking, won the "Paris Hilton Award."
