Saddled Up In Suburbia Officers On Horseback Control Christmas Crime Members of the Memphis Police Department’s Mounted Patrol spent a big part of recent cold, windy Saturday keeping an eye out for criminal activity at a Memphis mall. The patrol consisted of seven officers on horseback who made circuits around the building and perused the parking lot, drawing quite a bit of attention from mall visitors, especially the youngsters. The Patrol consists of twelve horses, two full-time officers and a contingent of reserve officers, and made the trip from the Department’s downtown stable over several weekends prior to the Christmas holiday.
