Local Trainer Selected For National Young Horse Trainers Symposium To be held in Chesapeake City MD Michele Renshaw, who owns and operates Serenity Farm Dressage out of Moscow, TN was recently notified of her selection for the 3rd annual National Dressage Young Horse Trainers Symposium sponsored by Hassler Dressage and Harmony Sporthorses on November 7 n 9, 2008. The event will be held in Chesapeake City MD and features German breeder Ingo Pape. “I am thrilled and very honored!" said Michele. "I have really enjoyed the work I have recently done with young horses and furthering my education at this symposium will not only benefit the horses I have in training now, but also any future young horses I get in training.”Participants are selected based on their proven abilities to train young dressage horses. Currently Michele has two young horses in training that are doing very well in the local recognized shows, and as of June 2008, had a 5 yr old Hanoverian mare ranked 11th in the nation for the USDF Horse of the Year award at the open Training Level. Trainers were asked to submit an unedited training session on a young horse and required to fill out a questionnaire with credentials and references. Since its inception in 2005, the YDHTS is the only event of its kind to gather developing talent nationwide for an event of this nature. Out of hundreds of applicants, only a select few receive the honor of attending this unique educational event. The symposium was created in order to meet several objectives. The most important goal is to locate and develop talented young horse trainers. In addition, it was hoped that the participants could further their own knowledge by learning from successful, international trainers. The power of networking has proven invaluable among the attendees.
