Megan’s Menagerie Offers A Variety Of Equine Services Located In Bruce, Mississippi Twenty three year-old Megan Mann of Bruce, Mississippi has turned her interest in horses and animals into a career. And they are proud to say they live in the Chicken Bone community of Calhoun County. She has been training horses for the public for six years and has a traveling pet zoo that she started in Junior High School. Megan’s Menagerie is an appropriate name for the young woman’s business. They have 57 head of horses, mules and miniature horses. Their pet zoo includes goats, rabbits, hedgehog, pot bellied pig, chickens, ducks, llama and a singing dog. She and her mom, Pat, have added a haunted hay ride on Friday and Saturday nights during the Halloween season. And on Saturday afternoons they offer something a little less scarier for the younger ones; pony rides, costume contest, apple bobbin and more. Megan was involved in animal activities all during her school years including being on the Northwest Junior College rodeo team. She broke a pony when she was ten or eleven. And has broken and finished horses for owners in several states the past year or two. She also tackles mules and is currently training one for a Texas owner. Megan is a barrel racer and enjoys putting the finishing touches on a young barrel horse. Cattle are available and are used when working with horses for cow events. Massage & rehab services are now offered at Megan’s Menagerie following her certification as a equine massage therapist. She uses LED lights in her therapy and also offers water therapy by taking injured horses into a pond. “Swimming in a pond helps their circulation and helps cells to grow and speeds up healing,” said Megan. This year MLG Prince George stood at the farm for the first time. He was purchased from a ranch in Wyoming and Megan has high hopes of his offspring excelling in different disciplines. The black stallion stands 16.2 hands and has received interest from English riders as well as Western. Several other AQHA and APHA horses stand at the farm.
