Sides Promotes Bulls & Barrels Slated for Bolivar, TN on May 5 by Don Dowdle Randy Sides of Moscow, Tennessee didn't want to be a policeman or fireman when growing up. After seeing his first rodeo at age 10 he wanted to be a rodeo stock contractor. And on May 5, 13 years later he will produce his first event in Bolivar, Tennessee. Bolivar Bulls and Barrels is the beginning of what Sides hopes will eventually turn into a career. He has secured bulls from 3 different contractors to insure plenty of good bucks for the cowboys that attempt the 8 second ride and for the crowd that watches. Sides tried is hand at bull riding when he was 13. He continued until he was sidelined by an injury at 17. After recovering he rode a couple more years before deciding he had seen and felt enough. Sides owns a two-year old grandson of Bodacious the famous bull who is said to have been the meanest bull ever on the rodeo circuit until his retirement in 1996. The youngster won't be bucked in Bolivar but will be on display. Sides reports Ronnie Manness, who recently won the NABA finals in Memphis will compete as will Ben Duggar of New Albany, MS a former collegiate world final winner. The May 5 event will start at 7 pm at the Bolivar Fairgrounds located on Hwy. 64 West. For more information call 901-494-2600.
