The Tennessee Quarter Horse Association (TQHA) hosted its final show of the 2019 season at Harriman, Tenn. on December 6-8 – the Hillbilly Classic. Region 2 President Rose Mason said that it was “a big fun show! The whole place was decorated, and the atmosphere was great! We had three Christmas trees and all the exhibitors got presents. We had a big potluck meal with lots of soups and stews and good things to eat. Both Friday and Saturday night we finished about 9:00 p.m.

“Our Versatility Ranch Horse classes were very popular; we had lots of ranch riders! The large number of classes made it easy for folks to get qualified for the World.”

With four judges working the show pen, riders had ample opportunities to earn points. Judges were Jim Isley, John Kunkle, Dolly Chayer, and Gayle Lampinen.

Friday’s classes started with Reining, followed by a slew of Versatility Ranch Horse classes, including Cow Work.

Saturday’s show began with Showmanship followed by the Halter classes. The afternoon’s classes included Horsemanship, Western Pleasure and Western Riding, followed by Ranch Riding.

Sunday was devoted to the hunters, with over fences and hack classes, and equitation.
