The 32nd annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl Pro Rodeo was held Saturday night December 28, 2019 at the Show Place Arena in Cordova, Tenn. The rodeo is an IPRA sanctioned event, drawing professional cowboys from across the mid-south and the nation. Livestock was provided by MFJ Productions and Greek Ellick, Jr. was back as the rodeo clown. Slack time for the rodeo contestants not scheduled for the evening performance was 10 a.m. Saturday. There were plenty of Rodeo Queens to beautify the arena, and they made several appearances throughout the night. They were: Mid-South Rodeo Queen 2019 Paige Thompson of Crossett, AR; Teen Mid-South Rodeo Queen 2019 Miranda Reed from Roland, AR; Jr Miss Mid-South Rodeo Queen 2019 Caroline Wilson of Athens, AL; Mid-South Rodeo Princess 2019 Harlee Ausmus of Malvern, AR; Miss St Jude Memphis Stampede 2019 Reagan Caen of Columbia, TN; Teen Miss St. Jude Memphis Stampede 2019 Alea Muñoz of Millington, TN; Miss Rodeo Tennessee 2019 Olivia Johnston of Martin, TN; Teen Miss Rodeo Tennessee 2019-20 Ryleigh Dunn of Taft, TN; Jr Miss Rodeo Tennessee 2019-20 Layla Holland of Millington, TN; Jr Miss Dixie National Rodeo Queen 2019 Natalie King of Byhalia, MS; and Miss Southeast Arkansas Rodeo Queen 2019-20 Rachel Pearl Jackson of Southaven, MS.
Opening the show was the Coyote Run Drill Team with a tribute to the armed forces, with music and a special flag designating each branch of the military.
Then the rodeo action kicked off with Bareback Bronc riding, followed by Steer Wrestling, Tie Down Roping, and Team Roping.
At intermission, the Coyote Run Drill Team was back with a second routine. And then it was time for the children to enter the arena for the Kid’s Foot Race.
Resuming the action came Saddle Bronc riding, followed by Barrel Racing and, completing the night’s action, Bull Riding.
Forget the professional barrel racers, it was 4-year-old Darby Duncan of Eads, Tennessee, barrel racing on her Mini Bouncer who, once again, stole the show and got the loudest cheering from the audience. She made her debut at the Liberty Bowl Rodeo last year as a 3-year-old. Darby was preceded by another talented junior rider: Harlee Ausmus, age 7 of Malvern, Arkansas, who made her first big rodeo debut on her barrel horse Doc. Harlee is also 2019 Mid-South Rodeo Princess.
