The Mid-South Quarter Horse Association (MSQHA) hosted its annual after-Thanksgiving Turkey Circuit at the Expo Center in Tunica, Miss. on the weekend of November 24-25, 2018. The show offered “all inclusive” fees of $285 for three classes and a stall. There were Trail Jackpot and Ranch Riding Jackpot classes on Sunday that offered 70% payback with $350 added. This show also offered the inaugural Ranch Horse Turkey Trot with an extra $250 up for grabs. To qualify, exhibitors had to show in a ranch horse class on Saturday. The race was held immediately following the ranch classes on Saturday with the fastest trotter the winner!

On Friday afternoon before the main show, MSQHA offered Cold Turkey AQHA Barrel Racing classes, also with 70% payback and $3,000 added. Friday night hospitality was a chili dinner for the exhibitors.

Judges for the show were Sara Simons, Andrea Simons, Tony Burris, and Jeff Allen.

Two full days of classes showing to four judges attracted more folks to this show than in the past two years. Secretary Pat Kress said, “It is a very good show; entries are up from last year and the classes are more filled. A lot of our Texas exhibitors came.”

An exhibitor also commented, “It’s better than in the past two years when show people were split into going to various other shows the same weekend.” The Turkey Circuit has been traditionally held on the weekend after Thanksgiving and she agreed, “This is a good weekend for the show.” She also noted that “Tunica is an expensive place to have a show.”

Another exhibitor commented that he liked the trail classes best. “Trail was fun! It’s my favorite class.”

There was a bit of “Black Friday” shopping at the show, too, with Ferguson’s Tack Trailer, Van’s Leather Crafts, LuxLooks Show Clothes, and Trails End Western Wear.
