The Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) Stock Horse Team hosted a clinic and show at the Tennessee Livestock Center (TLC) on the MTSU campus, April 6-7, 2018. The Spring Fling Clinic and American Stock Horse Association (ASHA) Show started with a two-day clinic, Friday and Saturday, with Dr. Clay Cavinder, Associate Professor at Mississippi State University Extension, and Taylor McIntosh, AQHA Professional Horseman. The clinic was followed by an Open Show on Sunday benefitting the Center of Equine Recovery for Veterans at MTSU. At the Stock Horse Show there were several divisions of Reining classes, Cow Horse, Pleasure and Trail classes. There were also “Tiny Tots” classes – 9 and Under Walk/Trot, Trail, and Pleasure.

MTSU team members “rolled with the [weather] punches,” as they commented: “The joke was on us when we named the show a ‘spring fling.’ We had close to freezing temperatures all day, but the clinic and show took place in the heated arena at the TLC.” In spite of the weather, the show had a great turnout and the clinic was full.

There were prizes for all divisions, with MTSU/ASHA cups for first – sixth place in each class. Top prizes were a director’s chair, a duffle bag, and TNSHA Region 2 award buckles were handed out on Friday night.
