Information from Carolyn Reed

Reed Hill Farm (RHF) is a small “mom and pop” breeding farm south of Nashville in Eagleville, Tennessee. We specialize in breeding rare, color Thoroughbreds for racing and show.

Carolyn Reed’s background is in showing hunters, western pleasure, starting young horses, breeding Hanoverians, and she has held AWR and AWS breed inspections in the past.

In recent years, Carolyn has been selectively breeding for colored Thoroughbred breeding stock for her own Jockey Club registered Thoroughbreds. She has recently (in 2017) added select APHA and Arabian mares that are bred to her colored Thoroughbred stallions. It is Carloyn's long term goal to produce American bred sport horses with in American registries that excel in the Eventing, Hunter, Jumper, and Dressage rings.

“There are two rare ‘dilute’ Thoroughbred bloodlines of ï»¿MILKIE and ï»¿GLITTER PLEASE that produce palomino, buckskin, cremello, perlino, smoky blacks, and smoky crèmes; with the even rarer color pattern are the two ‘frame overo’ Thoroughbred bloodlines ï»¿RACEY REMARQUE and ï»¿BLUE EYED STREAKER," Reed explained. Reed Hill Farm has been breeding for the genetically superior athletic genes of MILKIE, GLITTER PLEASE, and RACEY REMARQUE.

In December, 2017 RHF purchased a handsome 2008 APHA  perlino tobiano 16.1H stallion – DOUBLE SCOTCH N SODA! Scotch (Ee, Aa, CrCr, nT) is unique in that he has no Impressive (foundation Quarter Horse) bloodlines; is 5-panel genetic disorder negative; has great foundation bloodlines; and is tall at 16.1H.

“Medical issues in the past have not allowed me to train and show these beautiful stallions, but my visions of incorporating their high quality conformation, movement, height, bone, and great temperaments into today’s American breeding registries will eventually raise the standards of ‘color’ breeding in the future,” Reed said. “I hope one day to have our foundation color Thoroughbred bloodlines in the winner’s circle on the race track, at Rolex, and in the Olympics.”

RHF will be standing these stallions: R H F GOLDEN GLOBE (JC 16.3 1/2H palomino), COUTURE COLORS (JC mature 17.1+H cremello), R H F HARLEQUIN (JC and APHA 16.3H black frame overo), and DOUBLE SCOTCH N SODA (APHA 16.1H perlino tobiano) to our own JC, APHA, AQHA, and Arab mares and, for the first time in 2018, to registered public mares.
