Brownland Farm in Franklin, Tennessee, hosted two back-to-back Autumn shows: Autumn Country, October 18-22 and Autumn Classic, October 25-29, 2017.
At the Autumn Country show, Michael Tokaruk’s rider/student Mattie Hatcher, 16, won the $25,000 Brownland Grand Prix on her Cristiano, who had just recently made his Grand Prix debut. The eight-year-old Swedish Warmblood had been winning in the Medium Junior/Amateur jumper division at Summer in the Rockies, and was Champion in the Junior Jumpers at Equifest in Chicago, IL.
Mattie also placed third in the Brownland Grand Prix on her other horse Hands Free; plus she won the Medium/High Jr/AO Jumper Classic at Brownland on Cumana. Mattie earned a total of $13,050 for her efforts at this show.
Hatcher and her mother, Lee, have their horses at home in Little Rock, Arkansas, where Hatcher attends high school at Pulaski Academy. Tokaruk travels to their farm twice a month to help them school their horses. Hatcher qualified for the NAJYRC Championships this year on Cumana, and helped win the Team Gold Medal for Zone 7 with her teammates. At the Brownland show, Mattie’s mother Lee Hatcher won the Low Jr./AO Jumper class on Amicelli.
Michael Tokaruk won the $5,000 Welcome Stake 1.4M on Ilan. Ilan, a 9-year-old, Belgian Warmblood, won the $25,000 Brownland Fall Grand Prix in September. Tokaruk also placed 4th in the Welcome Stake with Hatcher’s Cristiano and 10th with Alex Turner’s Vanrock. Tokaruk won the 1.2M Jumper class on Cassie Kime’s Tenacious D.
In the Junior Hunter 3’3” division, Ella Trotz and her As Ever were Champions, winning three of the four over fences classes.
Calder Trotz and Brownland Miss Kimmy were Small Pony Hunter Champions and winners of the Small/Medium Pony Classic. Calder and Not So Secret were second in the Small/Medium Pony Classic.
Madison Hill and Vermeer were Children’s Hunter 14 & Under Reserve Champions.
Carita Palmer and Davinci were Reserve Champions in Adult Amateur Hunter 36 & Over.
Autumn Classic
At the Autumn Classic show, Colleen Acosta was the winner of the $25,000 Brownland Grand Prix on Himini, besting 23 other competitors, and she placed third with Lancelot. Frank Owens was second with MTM Twenties Girl.
Acosta also won the $5,000 Welcome Stake 1.40M with Viola.
The medal classes attracted a goodly number of entries. Madison Hill won the THIS Children’s Medal with Roosevelt.
Annemarie Radish-Jones won the ASPCA Medal with Alpacino.
The Dover/USEF Hunter Seat Medal winner was Aidyn Gallaher on Contessa, with Radish-Jones and Alpacino placing second.
Kelly Mullen and Cheryl Rubenstein’s Capisce were Green Hunter 3’3”/3’6”/3’9” Champions (winning 4 out of 5 classes) – plus winners of the $25,000 Brownland Farm Hunter Derby. Kelly’s horses also placed third, fourth, and fifth in the Hunter Derby: Fortuny (3rd), Hoylake (4th), and Latino (5th). That left Danielle Grice in second place with High Life.
Holly Labry and Red Rooster won the A/O Hunter Classic.
Owen Gajoch placed first in the Junior Hunter Classic with Black Label B, over 15 other entries. Lily Rupinski and Divine were second, with Olivia Yukon and Levonworth third.
Susan Ross won the WASH/NAL Adult Hunter Classic on Mindy Wurzburg’s Overseas.
And Ann Clark Bellamy won the WASH/NAL Children’s Hunter Classic with Cambridge Inn, besting 13 other entries.
Emma Rupinski and Stonewall Top Call were winners of the Medium/Large Pony Hunter Classic.
