The Tractor Supply Company-sponsored Music Country Grand Prix is now in its 29th year, a culminating event for the Nashville Classic Horse Show at Brownland Farm in Franklin, TN, May 31- June 4, 2017. It is a premier equestrian show jumping competition in which top riders and horses compete for the $40,000 purse. In addition to the top caliber competition, this is also a social event that offers something for everyone and raises funds for Saddle Up!
On Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 3 p.m. the gates and Silent Auction opened. The “People Prix” provided a fun, kid-sized jumping course in which young and young-at-heart competitors could test their jumping skills. At 5 p.m. the Music Country Grand Prix competition began.
This year’s winner was Zavira, ridden by Louise Graves, taking home the $12,000 top prize. Second went to Orage Z, ridden by Peter Jordan, and third was Zeros, ridden by Carson Grisham, who also placed eleventh on Crack De Muze.
David Jennings rode Aventador to fourth place and Colleen Acosta was fifth with Himini.
David Jennings was sixth with Harvest Moon and eighth with KM Corfina, while Michael Burnett squeezed between with a seventh on Iron. Jennings was also tenth with Carmina.
Faith Davis placed ninth on DaVinci. Miguel Ventura rounded out the top twelve with Helen in twelfth place.
The Music Country Grand Prix benefits Saddle Up!, Middle Tennessee’s oldest and largest nonprofit organization providing horse-based programs for children/youth with disabilities. Saddle Up! offers recreational therapeutic horseback riding, physical and occupational therapy, equine assisted learning and the Saddle Up! Equestrian Club.
