The Jaeckle Centre held its second winter show in the series, Snowflake II on February 24-26, 2017. Expecting the usual cold temperatures and winter weather for a Tennessee indoor circuit, the weather was more like Florida weather for this weekend’s show – warm with highs in the 70s. As with the Snowflake I show, this show was run in accordance with the Middle Tennessee Hunter Jumper Association (MTHJA) Rule Book.

The show began at 6 p.m. on Friday evening with Special Hunter, Children’s/Adult Hunter, Equitation, Green Hunter, and Jr./Amateur classes. Saturday’s classes started at 8 a.m. featuring Special Hunter, Short and Long Stirrup, Children’s Hunter, Pony Hunter, Baby Green, Pre-Children’s/Adult Hunter, and Equitation classes. Saturday’s special classes were the MTHJA Pony Medal and the MTHJA Horse Medal 2’6.”

The highlight of Saturday’s classes was the $1,000 Jaeckle Centre Hunter Derby, presented by Franklin Saddlery. The $1,000 purse was awarded to the top 12 places, with 30% going to first place. The first round of the Hunter Derby was a Classic Hunter round, followed by the Handy Hunter round. Fence heights included 2’, 2’6” and 3.’ Only the top 12 entries from the first round were eligible to return for the second round.

Sunday’s classes were oriented toward beginner riders, with Ground Poles, Walk/Trot, Green Rider, and Beginner Rider classes. But at noon, the high jumping horses took over the arena, with a variety of jumper classes ranging from Beginner Jumper to Open Jumper. There were 227 rounds for Sunday, with Beginner Rider, Beginner Jumper, and Hopeful Jumper attracting by far the largest number of entries.
