The fifth Coldwater Cross show of the Kudzu Klassic barrel racing series had 475 riders and a total money payout of $5000. The next show in the series is February 11th in Holly Springs, MS.
This was the first show since the passing of Coldwater Cross crewmember Junior Daughtry. Junior passed away unexpectedly on January 19th at Baptist Memorial Hospital from a massive heart attack. In his memory Coldwater Cross will add a special Daughtry run speed class to all future shows.
Junior’s youngest son Levi Daughtry shared his father’s love of horses and is a dedicated rider at the Coldwater Cross shows, always placing high in the races. This race he set the pace in the pole class by running a 21.355, taking first place in the 1D. In the youth class he ran a 14.480, which placed him 4th in the 1D, and in Open he ran a 14.507.
Meagan Drewry won the 1D in the youth class with her time of 14.178. Kaitlyn Cooksey placed first in 2D, running a 14.790. Maggie Buffaloe ran a 15.182, winning the 3D, and Allison Cratin placed 1st in 4D with a 16.266 run.
In the adult class, Stephanie Tomko placed first in the 1D, running a 14.172. Tracey Goodman placed first in the 2D with a time of 14.790. Hailey Pettigo won the 3D in 15.193 seconds, and Amanda Howard came in first in the 4D, running a 16.226.
The open class had 107 riders. Hailey Pettigo, riding Scooter, ran an impressive 13.821 but unfortunately hit a barrel. Stephanie Tomko won both the 1D and 2Dwith a 14.083 second run, followed by a 14.598 second run. In the 3D Stephanie Wells placed first, running a 15.155, while Natalie Robbins came in first in the 4D with a time of 16.127.
