Huntsville Horse Sports is located at 5650 Sanderson St., Suite 0, Huntsville, Alabama 35805. It’s conveniently located off Hwy. 255 and Hwy. 72.
Owner Karen Bolton founded the company in October 2016 after she acquired the assets of the former Horsing Around tack shop. You can get expert advice at her store, as Karen and her staff have a long history in the equestrian world and love to share their knowledge with people in the horse community. Karen’s staff are all riders – current and former horse farm owners, fox hunters, hunter/ jumper riders, eventers, and dressage riders. They all enjoy meeting other riders and sharing their passion for horse sports. Karen’s Jack Russell, Oakley, greets visitors to the store, and especially likes young riders.
Karen and her staff can fit clients from head to toe in the riding gear they need. Properly fitted helmets and riding boots are critical for comfort and safety, and it doesn’t hurt to look great with the latest style while riding! Karen and her team can also advise on horse apparel, including tack, bits, saddle pads, and blankets.
Karen has a lifelong passion for horses and horse sports. Her youngest daughter Hayley grew up riding on the hunter jumper circuit, and, in addition to being a horse show mom, Karen was the barn manager for a competitive riding stable. Later, Karen became an equine vet tech for a top North Carolina veterinarian and elite Grand Prix rider. She enjoyed visiting the horse farms across North Carolina, helping deliver foals, assisting in equine surgeries, and caring for these wonderful animals.
When her daughter went off to college with her Dutch Warmblood, Karen and her husband moved to Huntsville, Alabama, where Karen focused on her own riding. In Huntsville, Karen found the thrill of foxhunting with the Moreland Hunt, and honed her skills competing at the Hunter/Jumper shows. During the past two years, Karen has given her attention to developing Huntsville Horse Sports, realizing her latest dream of owning a tack shop!
