The barrel racing series to benefit Safe Harbor culminated in Memphis, TN at the Show Place Arena August 5-7, 2016, with $5,500 added. This was the finale in a series of three shows; the two others were at Tunica, MS, January 15-17; and Murfreesboro, TN, June 24-26. All proceeds from this event go to battle against homelessness in Memphis.

Safe Harbor of Memphis is located at 3630 Jackson Avenue. The Lighthouse church provides faith-based recovery support services, with a residential program to help people overcome addition and homelessness. Their Fresh Start program provides care to women with substance abuse disorders. Find more information at:

In Saturday’s Open, Elaina McKinney of Carbondale, IL riding Cool Memories was the 1D winner in the fastest time of 14.636. Elaina also won the Saturday Youth Sidepot. Chris Coffey of Glasgow, KY, on Streaking Romance, won the 2D in 15.139 seconds. In 3D it was Hannah James from Cordova, TN on See Smoke who had the best time of 15.660. And Kristin Gore of Lexington, TN on Cross Eyed Cash won the 4D with a time of 16.648. She also won the 4D Youth Sidepot on Saturday.

Ellie Owens of Marshfield, MO, riding Quick Silk, won the 2D Youth Sidepot on Saturday with a time of 15.312. Makenzie Stewart from McEwen, TN, on Amen Tucker, won the 3D Youth Sidepot on Saturday, turning in 15.739 seconds on the clock.

Saturday’s Young Guns turned in some fast times, with Jesy Lovelady of Town Creek, AL winning the 1D on Maggy in 15.538 seconds. McKenzie Scherzinger of Hurricane Mills, TN was first in 2D on Bo, with 16.619 on the timer. Delaney Naifeh of Covington, TN, riding Flash, won the 3D with a time of 17.632.

In Friday’s Youth Sidepot, Grayce Carter of Eads, TN on Hotrodinforcash was the 1D winner with a time of 15.451. Megan Caviness of Searcy, AR on Driftin Gypsy had the best time for 2D: 16.107. Erica Frogue of Lakeland, TN, riding Blaze, won the 3D with 16.588 seconds on the clock. And Madde Shelton of Fayetteville, TN and Zorro won the 4D with a time of 19.004.

Average Results for this show put Mendy Williams and Sweet Definition first in 1D with an average time of 14.683. Katie Hulsey and Boomerang Ta Fame won the 2D in an average time of 15.260. Bruce Ludwig and Streak N Stoli won the 3D with an average time of 15.771. And the 4D winner was Shea Hutsenpiller, on Tonkas Mytee Sierra, with an average time of 16.698.

Winner of the Open 1D for the series of shows was Mendy Williams on Sweet Definition. Second place went to Alexandria Skipworth on Perfect Definition; and third place, to Jimmy Cagle on Figure Im Special.

Winner of the Open 2D for the series was Ashley West on Tom Tom. Jimmy Cagle and Dash D Hefa were second. Third were Susie Busse and Blue Moon Blazing.

Open 3D winner was Jeanna Killebrew on Quick Kick. Second was Leanne Haley on Easily Frenchman. Sara Walker placed third on True Rancher Doll.

In the Open 4D, Kristin Tallent was first with CR Montana McCue. Halie Steward and SP Bell Mare 08 were second. And Sherri Surman was third with Goose.

In the Young Guns 1D, the series winner was Jesy Lovelady on LGR Webbs Pride. Jesy was second on Maggie. And Lexie Tweddell was third with Patches.

In the Young Guns 2D, the series winner was JcKenzie Scherzinger on Bo. Second went to Delaney Naifeh on Flash. And third was Case Creson on Cracker Jack.

Rounding out the Young Guns 3D, Savannah Shumpert was the winner on Time To Sport. Kayleigh Wilburn took the second and third placings with Karmas A Witch and Boston Tea Party, respectively.
