A sunny, but cool, beautiful spring weekend welcomed the hunter/jumper show season in Germantown, Tennessee, with the West Tennessee Hunter/Jumper Association (WTHJA) Spring Time in Dixie on April 7-10, 2016. Show manager Barney Mallace bragged on the “greatly improved footing” at the show. “WTHJA spent many thousands of dollars on the footing improvements, with more to come,” he said. “WTHJA did the footing work, installing crushed limestone and sane, in all the hunter rings, hunter schooling areas, and the main arena. Jimmy Chancellor did the work on the main arena schooling area, where French drains were installed.”

The weekend featured a fun exhibitors’ party with food sponsored by Memphis Mojo Café.

The Spring Encore show, April 14-17, featured the USHJA National Derby on Sunday.
Madison Hill cleaned up in Medium Pony Hunters: she was Champion on Rollingwoods Over The Top (#24) and Reserve on Vienna (#25).

Junior Hunter 3’3”/3’6” Comb. Champions were Levonworth (#90), owned by Olivia Yukon, and No Nonsense (#120) owned by Linda Brzoza. Reserve Champions were George Jetson (#45) owned by Linda Shoaf and Coronado (#97) owned by Isabella Baldock

The Modified Child/Adult division was popular, with 22 entries. Linda Brzoza’s Tribecca (#100) was Champion, with Gerre Craig’s (owner & rider) Freedom’s Revenge (#91) Reserve.

Carly Alder won the ASPCA/Maclay Medal class on Campfire (#35), with Kate Duke and Bilbao (#104) Reserve.

Jorja Jones and Forever Autumn (#17) were Champions in the Pessoa/U.S. Hunter Seat Medal, with Carly Alder and Campfire Reserve.

THIS Children’s Medal went to Lucy Heaton riding HC San Patrignano (#26), with Jordan Sokoloff taking second on Great As Iz (#117).

Champion in the WIHS/NAL Child/Adult Hunter Classic was Adele (#39), Kristen Schnelle the owner and rider. Mary Bateman was second on Ultaire (#28), owned by Janet McCarroll.

Kristen Schnelle also won the AO/Jr. Classic with Calena (#38). Carly Alder was second with Coronado (#97)
Natalie Sharp was Champion in the Pony Classic with Carnival (#62). Hadley Miller accomplished second on Mission Accomplished (#42). And Madison Hill finished third with Rollingwoods Over The Top (#24).

In the WIHS/NAL Child/Adult Amateur Jumper Classic, Chara Short was first on Pinata Mora. Leigh McDonald was second on Park Avenue. Sarah Jackson placed third with Blackstone, and Abigail Baskind was fourth with Matilda.
In the 1.20M/1.30M Classic, Charles Casey won the top purse on CC Kolaborant. Audrey Muscari was second on Ricardo and third on Cartograna. McKrell Baier was fourth with Avelina.

In the 1.10M Jumper division, Trey Lawson was Champion on Reba, taking two firsts and a second.
The Spring Encore show, April 14-17, featured the USHJA National Derby on Sunday. Audrey Muscari and Ricardo were champions in the Hunter Derby.  Abigail Whitmer and Comaraderie were second.

In the Pony Classic, Jane Head and Royal Salute were the winners, with Madison Hill and Rollingwoods Over The Top in second.
