Miss Rodeo Mississippi Association proudly announces Miss Dixie National Rodeo 2013, Brandi Nichole Pittman. Brandi was crowned on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Miss Dixie National Pageant in Jackson, Mississippi.
Brandi, along with Mary Elizabeth Sprabery (Junior Miss Dixie National 2013), competed January 11-12against the Southeast's top rodeo queen contestants. During her reign as Miss Dixie National, Brandi will serve as an ambassador of western heritage and the professional sport of rodeo at all the performances of the Dixie National Rodeo and Dixie National Parade.
A native of Bogalusa, LA, Brandi is a junior honor student at Franklinton High School where she is active in Future Farmers of America, basketball, soccer, and track. Brandi also competes on the state level in Horse Evaluation, Proficiency Award Program and FFA Horse Shows.
Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Sprabery, of Meridian, MS as Jr. Miss Dixie National, joins Brandi to promote the sport of rodeo and the western lifestyle. Liz is a 7th grader at Southeast Lauderdale Middle school where she is a cheerleader; is active in her school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and participates in Mississippi Junior High School Rodeo.
Also crowned during the Dixie National Rodeo Queen pageant were the Miss Dixie National Sweethearts: Cara Beth Calhoun (Brandon, MS), Mary Chandler and Natalie Hope King (Byhalia, MS), Mabry Whatley Mayfield (Carthage, MS), and Makenzie Natalee Moore (Kosciusko, MS). This is a title only division for ages 5-9.
Paige Nicholson was crowned as Miss Rodeo Mississippi 2013. Paige, a native of Lawrence, Mississippi, became the 39th young lady to have the distinct honor of wearing the crown of Miss Rodeo Mississippi. She will represent Mississippi at all Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) events statewide and abroad for one year, and will compete for the title of Miss Rodeo America 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada in December, 2013.
Paige participated in a wide range of activities throughout junior high and high school, including 4-H, showing livestock, and rodeoing. She now attends Mississippi State University where she is pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in Agricultural Information Science. After graduation, she plans to complete a Master’s degree, while continuing to rodeo and team rope.
“Being Miss Rodeo Mississippi is my dream job; it is an honor to serve as the spokesperson for professional rodeo in Mississippi,” says Paige. Paige will use her title of Miss Rodeo Mississippi to promote rodeo and the western way of life, and encourage people to become rodeo fans.
