Tom Honecker’s beloved CedarOak Plantation was the setting as Mary Honecker hosted the Tom Honecker Memorial Field Trial to honor the memory of her late husband. The two day event was held November 5-6 on the beautiful north Mississippi property which was developed by the avid sportsman in the late 1990s.
Rester’s Wild Jack, owned and handled by Cecil Rester of Angie, Louisiana, topped 12 entries to win the Amateur All-Age stake. Dempsey and Jo Williams’ Admiral Jo’s Shadow handily won the Amateur Shooting Dog challenge with her early Sunday morning performance. Hendrix’s Margin Call produced an excellent 30 minute effort for Burke Hendrix to win the Amateur Derby stake.
Judges for the trial were Kenny Dickerson and Elton Bray, both of Holly Springs, Mississippi. Mary Honecker travelled from her residence in Findlay, Ohio and provided extraordinary hospitality to the guests at the home on CedarOak. She prepared much of the food served at the lodge and she furnished great gifts for the winners and gift bags for everyone who had entries in the trial.
