International Buckskin World Show Comes To Memphis ShowPlace Arena, August 1-8 by Nancy Brannon The International Buckskin Horse Association (IBHA) held its annual World Show at the ShowPlace Arena August 1-8. There were four days of Warm-up classes in two Pre-Circuit Shows August 1-4, with two days for each show and each show triple judged. Opening ceremonies were Wednesday August 5. Results of the Warm-up to the Circuit classes can be found at: http://www.ibha.net/warmup.htm. Deanna O’Keefe said entries were a down a little from last year; however, there were 602 entries at this year’s show. “And the quality of horses is just as good” as last year she said. The 19th Annual Buckskin World Sale of horses was held Friday August 7. Deanna said the average price of horses was up from last year. Prices and ages of the horses sold is available at the website http://www.ibha.net/worldsale.htm. Funds for the Youth Scholarship Fund were raised by raffling off a saddle made by Steve Flick Saddles of Findlay, Ohio. The Youth Scholarship Fund aids the continued education of IBHA Youth. At this year’s convention, $6,600 was awarded to deserving youth to further their education. Winners of the scholarships are posted at http://www.ibha.net/scholarship.htm. The finale of the show was the crowning of the Queen on Saturday evening at the Queen’s Ball. The 2009 Miss Buckskin World is Kayla Wilkerson of Monroe City, Missouri. Championship and All-Around awards were given at the Ball, as well as special awards that horses won throughout the year, and the Youth Team Tourney award, which included stall decorations recognition.
