Tennessee High School Rodeo Highlights The Agricenter Show Place Arena was the right place to be on June 11-14 to catch the action of the Tennessee High School Rodeo State Finals. Kelsey Kennemer of Anderson, AL won the Girls All Around with 224 points in barrels; 46 points in poles; 267 in breakaway roping; 278 points in goat tying; and 156 points in team roping for a total of 971 points. She also won the Rookie Girls. Nealey Dalton of Adamsville, TN was Reserve with 319 points in barrels; 286 points in poles; 73 points in breakaway roping; 16 points in goat tying; and 36 points in team roping for a total of 730 points. The Guys All Around champion is Bobby Abernathy of Athens, AL with 249 points in calf roping; 257 points in steer wrestling; and 171 points in team roping for a total of 677 points. Jordan Thrasher of Culleoka, TN is Reserve with 279 in calf roping; 210 points in steer wrestling; and 61 points in team roping for a total of 550 points. Rodeo Queen is Aubrey Hodges of Corinth, MS. Sarah Paratore placed first in goat tying at the TN HS Rodeo Finals and is third for the year to qualify for the Tennessee High School Rodeo Finals in Gallup, NM. Sarah and her Quarter Horse Calico Dimples were honored by AQHA and Western Horseman as Tennessee High School Rodeo Association’s Girl’s Horse of the Year winner at the Tennessee High School Finals Rodeo at the ShowPlace Arena June 11-13. The honor came with a $250 college scholarship and a Teskey’s breast collar. Sarah competes on another Quarter Horse, Babyface, in the Breakaway Roping and Goatying events. In the Girls All Around, Lucinda and Natalie Fletcher were a close third and fourth. Lucinda has 208 points in barrels; 16 points in poles; 198 points in breakaway roping; 143 points goat tying; and 41 points in team roping for a total of 606 points. Natalie has 160 points in barrels; 238 points in breakaway roping; 158 points in goat tying; and 34 points in team roping for a total of 590 points. Prior to attending the National High School Finals Rodeo, several of the HS Rodeo Finalists will attend the International Youth Finals Rodeo at the Shawnee Expo Center in Shawnee, OK July 12-18. The International Finals Youth Rodeo will feature over 1,000 entries from across the United States, Canada and Australia.
